In The Era of Skinny-Tok & Restrictive Diet Culture… A Message to you for Eating Disorder Awareness Week

Eating disorders and disordered eating presents in many ways and do not just fit into one neat, tidy diagnosis box. This message is to remind you that if your relationship with food or your body is taking up too much of your daily “brain space” or is connected with feelings of guilt or decreased self-worth, it is worth reaching out for support from an eating disorder specialized dietitian or therapist. Whether you are restricting your food, over eating/emotional eating, working to follow significantly restrictive diets, have fears around needing to “eat clean,” or have become obsessive over your eating/over exercising related to performing your athletic performance, please reach out for support. Remember, you can still achieve optimal health and be your best self/perform at your best without over obsession or guilt related to food and exercise. Lastly, just because you don’t believe your body fits into the box of having an eating disorder, doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve or need to reach out extra support. If you relate to anything in this video or post, please don’t hesitate to DM me or reach out to a local provider.

With gratitude,
